Dungeness is on the south coast of Kent, with vast and growing shingle banks, with equally vast tides that constantly throw up more shingle, leaving old boat wrecks and fishing huts further from the sea each year.

The beach is a strange mix of a working fishing industry and archaic remnants of its past. Flotsam and jetsam are gathered and cleared every day, but the remnants of the past are left to become inanimate ghosts.
